Our Story
WMI Mutual Insurance™ Company (“WMI”) and its predecessor, the Intermountain Oil Marketers Employee Trust, have been insuring individuals and families of the Western Petroleum Marketers Association since 1974. In 1996, WMI expanded its insured base and began insuring members of the Montana Retail Association (“MRA”), the Montana Hardware and Implement Dealers Association, the Montana Tire Dealers Association, and the Montana Restaurant Association. The growth within these trade associations has enabled WMI to develop a strong insured base in several Western States. WMI’s unique size enables the company to provide professional, friendly, and personal assistance to employer groups and individual insureds. WMI offers a full range of insurance products to eligible members of affiliate trade associations, including life and health insurance, dental, vision, and short-term disability insurance products. WMI is committed to maintaining affordable high-quality insurance for its members, and has been successful in this goal through the implementation of many cost-saving efforts. One of WMI’s most effective cost-saving programs is its extensive preferred provider organization ("PPO") network throughout the Western United States and nationally. This PPO network enables WMI’s insureds to obtain high quality health care at affordable discounted rates. Larger employers are also offered the opportunity to provide self-funded benefits administered by WMI TPA, Inc., a subsidiary of WMI Mutual Insurance™ Company. WMI TPA has a well-established reputation for efficient, courteous, and accurate claims processing, and has strong access to highly-rated national reinsurance companies for the benefit of WMI TPA’s self-funded and partially self-funded employer groups.

Craig D. Eerkes
Chairman
Craig Eerkes is President and CEO of Sun Pacific Energy, Inc., located in Kennewick, Washington. Craig and his wife Marilee purchased the business from his father in 1981, and have grown and expanded it into an extremely successful enterprise. Craig has been very active in the petroleum business for over 30 years, and has served as the president of the Washington Oil Marketers Association, president of the Western Petroleum Marketers Association, and chairman of Petroleum Marketers of America Association. Craig is very involved with community events, and was the 2014 Tri-Citian of the year. Craig and the Eerkes family annually sponsor a golf tournament and auction benefiting The Boys & Girls Club and Young Life. Craig has served on the WMI board since 1999, and he was elected to serve as the Chairman of WMI and WMI TPA in 2015.
Dave Leo
Director, President, and Chief Executive Officer
Dave Leo is a Director and the President and CEO of WMI Mutual Insurance Company, and a Director and the President of WMI TPA, Inc. He has worked in the health insurance industry since 1989, and at WMI since 1997. He has served several terms as the President of the Utah Health Insurance Association (“UHIA”), and on the Board of Directors of the Utah Life and Health Insurance Guaranty Association from 2007-2009.
Mr. Leo is licensed to practice law in Utah and Colorado, and is a graduate of the University of Utah where he received a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Utah College of Law, a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish.
